Thunder Sharks Post Season

Wow, the season flew by and I gotta say was a ton of fun!  We ended up in the top 4 of the league despite a slow start and I am pretty sure with a couple more weeks of practice could easily beat the destroyers :)

I hope your sons had as much fun playing as I had coaching and hopefully we'll cross paths again.

Week 7: Thunder Sharks vs Monsters

Nice win by the Thunder Sharks today and a great way to start the playoffs!

The lesson/value of the week was hard work and Evan and Andrew (mohawk twins) both played extremely hard since we were short a couple of players this week.

Week 6: Thunder Sharks vs Hawks (Pt. Deux)

It would appear that the Thunder Sharks can win against teams named the Hawks.  Second win of the season was a good one and every played a great game.

The lesson/value for the week was determination and Bryson and Eli both exemplified that the best.

Week 5 Thunder Sharks vs Hawks

Thunder Sharks bring home a win!  It was a great game and everyone had a ton of fun...lots of video highlights.  Video highlights are now just available on Youtube, the issue I was having last week seems to be widespread, so I'll just create playlists:  Thunder Sharks vs Hawks.

The lesson/value for this week was cooperation and the players that best exemplified that were Haiden and William...good job guys!

Week 4: Thunder Sharks vs. Destroyers

Great game today and glad the rain didn't come as forecasted.  Thanks to Coach Jason for stepping in for Coach Ryan this weekend!

This weeks lesson/value was hustle and the recipients of the awards this week were Ronen and Scott.

Week 3: Thunder Sharks vs. Rangers

Perfect weather for football today...OK, maybe a bit too hot, but a great day still!  We almost eeked out the win in a 30-25 game.  Things are coming together and the team is starting to gel a little more.

This weeks lesson/value was communication.  As the boys practice more with each other they are starting to pick up names and that is crucial for coming together as a team.  We through together a quick quiz for the medals this week where whoever named everyone on the team would receive the medal.  Both Landon and Cooper were able to name everyone the first time through, so were the recipients of the medals this week...congrats.

First Practice/Game: April 28th

I hope all the kids had fun today.  Even if the other team scored more touchdowns, I am pretty sure the Thunder Sharks had way more fun!  The goal this week was to at least get some running plays down and for the most part we did that.  Tackling still needs to get improved, but I know a few more games of "sharks and minnows" should help with that skill.

I am glad the weather cooperated and look forward to seeing everyone next week.

Also, as part of I9 sports, they have the coaches teach a lesson/value every week.  This week it was "enthusiasm".  We went over what that meant at the beginning of the practice and then at the end of the game we awarded a medal to Alex!  Every week we'll coach a different lesson/value and award the medal to the child that best exemplifies it through the practice/game.
